Wednesday 20th July 2022 was an historic day for the Buea council and the American Embassy in Cameroon as H.E Christopher John Lamora the US Ambassador for Cameroon
The Buea Council’s history traces back to 1922, initially established as the Bakweri clan council under Chief Mathias Lifafa Endeley during British colonial rule. It wasn’t until June 29, 1977, that it officially became the Buea Rural Council, formalized by Presidential decree No. 77/203. Prior to this, Buea served as the capital of Kamerun (Cameroon) under German colonial administration from 1901 to 1909 and later as the capital of Southern Cameroons under British rule
