The Buea Council Today Tuesday 23rd of May 2023, received an important guest in the person of Philippe Accilien, the Country representative of the American program USAID.
The 51st Edition of the National day was celebrated in Buea under the distinguished patronage of H.E BENARD OKALIA BILAI, Governor of the South West Region.
The Buea Council’s history traces back to 1922, initially established as the Bakweri clan council under Chief Mathias Lifafa Endeley during British colonial rule. It wasn’t until June 29, 1977, that it officially became the Buea Rural Council, formalized by Presidential decree No. 77/203. Prior to this, Buea served as the capital of Kamerun (Cameroon) under German colonial administration from 1901 to 1909 and later as the capital of Southern Cameroons under British rule
