The lord Mayor David Mafani Namange Esq, and councilors of the Buea Municipality welcomed the British High Commissioner to Cameroon H.E Dr Christian Dennys McClure today Friday 11th November 2022, who in his cutesy visit to the Municipality of Legendary Hospitality, had to briefly exchange on the potential win-win opportunity of the Buea Municipality in the commonwealth council, and the CHEVENING scholarship opportunity for students of the municipality, and more. Both parties agreed to work in collaboration for a prosperous and peaceful future.
The Buea Council’s history traces back to 1922, initially established as the Bakweri clan council under Chief Mathias Lifafa Endeley during British colonial rule. It wasn’t until June 29, 1977, that it officially became the Buea Rural Council, formalized by Presidential decree No. 77/203. Prior to this, Buea served as the capital of Kamerun (Cameroon) under German colonial administration from 1901 to 1909 and later as the capital of Southern Cameroons under British rule
