The academic year 2022/2023 kicked off today 05th September 2022 in the whole national territory. Buea Municipality was not left out as the management of Buea Council through the lord Mayor David Mafani Namange Esq, as an exemplary father to his pupils, had to use the largess of the Council, and share minimum packages (A4 papers, markers, chalk, dusters, cardboards and pens) to head teachers of over 43 government Primary Schools in Buea to enable them have an effective back to school, at the Buea Council Chamber.
The head teachers received their various package, with joy and promised to use it for the propose for which it was made for.

The Buea Council’s history traces back to 1922, initially established as the Bakweri clan council under Chief Mathias Lifafa Endeley during British colonial rule. It wasn’t until June 29, 1977, that it officially became the Buea Rural Council, formalized by Presidential decree No. 77/203. Prior to this, Buea served as the capital of Kamerun (Cameroon) under German colonial administration from 1901 to 1909 and later as the capital of Southern Cameroons under British rule
